BIM, short form of building information modeling, is mostly used in the design phase of a construction project life cycle. It is mainly used for developing 3D digital information model of all kinds of building. BIM technology is relatively more advanced as well as useful than the CAD technology.
Though the computer-aided-design or CAD technology also enables the users to develop 3D models for all types of building projects, but it has many disadvantages like it does not allow 3D coordination, and the 3D CAD models do not have any capability to hold project information.
